PEAK Experiences Abound in Costa Rica

“Aha moments” were in abundance at the PRO PEAK event. Justin Woolf and Matthew Kominiak shared theirs on today’s community call.

“It was a truly transformational event,” said Woolf, noting the many aha moments that occurred over conversations at the pool, the bar, the restaurants. It was all about building a network.

“I guess for me the important thing is never to pass up on an event,” he adds. “You accelerate your growth pattern. When you show up to an event, you can chop 6, 12, 18 months off your development and understanding of how to increase your growth.

“It was a retreat, guys. This was an experience. It wasn’t about sitting in a room. This was about connecting,” he says. “You always have breakthroughs when you get in the space of people.

“The PEAK event was not just about learning stuff and getting overwhelmed,” he explained. “This was about giving you a platform, the baseline of people you can talk to, build a tight relationship with and build your business to the next level. A bond to build your leadership, a bond to gain perspective.”

Woolf ‘s first big takeaway was that David Bach is no different than any of us. As he described how he built his $100 million brand, it all came down to starting with a vision and dream and just going for it relentlessly.

Then there was ziplining.

Fear ran through the mind of Woolf, who hates heights and was about to glide on a high wire. Would the platform hold up? Would the wires hold? He equated the story in his mind to the conversation you might have about your business.

“I just ran for the platform. I wanted to hit my fear head on. The only way you’re going to address your fear in anything, you’ve just got to face it head on.” By dialing in and holding onto the ropes and climbing and making sure not to miss a step, he could feel his confidence rise, along with that of those around him.

“By the 4th zipline, people were going upside down, no hands. It was phenomenal. Never in my life did I think I would do that.”

But he did.

“To go upside down, you have to let go to holding on. You have to let go of that zipline. My brain stopped. My brain was telling me and every cell and atom in my body was telling me: If you let go, you’re going to die. It’s just that learned behavior. “How many times in our business are we afraid to let go of something? It took me like 8 seconds to let go.

In that space, I just went. By the end, I wanted to do it again and again and again and again.

Matthew Kominiak meanwhile, also got some clarity at PEAK. “My biggest aha moment was that I felt that Christine and I were lacking clarity … It’s not that we hadn’t figured it out, we just hadn’t done it.”

Maybe you don’t have a crystal clear focus on what you want. Write it down. I want to have $20,000 deposited in my Chase account by January. My mortgage paid off. Just get certain with yourself on why you’re doing what you’re doing.

“Not only did David Bach come in and give us a blueprint for how he did what he did, when he wasn’t speaking he was taking notes. When he wasn’t in session, he was in the pool, he was talking to everyone. This is the actual experience,” Kominiak noted. “The ability at any given time to be sitting at a table with Justin Woolf, David Bach, Jay Kilberg, Jay Kubasssek. There’s no price tag you can put on that experience.

“I’ve learned from every single member,” Justin Woolf said. “And that’s what it’s all about – getting into the small dinners. The small conversations. There was complete parity among that group. No egos. We all cultivated each other and acknowledged something we wanted to overcome. That’s what we want to stress to everyone. If you’re here and you’re serious about your business, you can’t afford to put yourself in a position not to transform. Transformation is what it’s about.”

  1. So many aha’s for me at My PRO U’s Peak Mastermind Retreat in Costa Rica this past week. Just one of several, was the realization that even though I was on and moving in a forward direction, it wasn’t directly attached to anything. Much like being attached to the end of a zip line, or setting a destination for auto pilot on an airplane, I was not connected to a specific, end result. Not that I’m wrong for it or feeling bad it about it…it was just great to realize it, and now it’s just a matter of choosing what I want that path to look like. Where I want to end up. The exciting part is that there are so many choices. Now it’s just a matter of choosing which path. :)

What an event.  I appreciate all you do PRO U… Can I get a BOOM?

    BOOM!

  4. Ferny Ceballos says:

To have an opportunity to sit down with David Bach at lunch and next to the pool and have him critique our No Excuses Summit business model, was worth the trip, many times over! Phenomenal. But you gotta be ready for that type of conversation!
